About the Project
The proposed Curyo Wind Farm and Battery Project is an early-stage renewable energy development located in the Mallee region of rural Victoria, approximately 257km north of Ballarat. Based on initial investigation, the project could generate up to 1,000 MW of clean energy through up to 162 wind turbines (subject to approval) and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), ensuring energy stability and reliability. The project would be located on farmland and contribute to Victoria’s ambitious renewable energy goals.
The local community around Curyo plays a crucial role in the region's economy, which is predominantly based on agriculture. The area is known for its broadacre cropping, including wheat, barley, and canola, as well as its commitment to sustainability. The proposed project acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land—the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia, and Jupagulk peoples, collectively known as the Wotjobaluk Nations—and is committed to respectful engagement with these communities.

The Curyo Wind Farm and Battery Project brings multiple benefits to the region:
The Curyo Wind Farm and Battery Project could bring multiple benefits to the region:
Employment: The project could create over 300 jobs during the construction phase and up to 20 permanent roles once operational.
Local procurement: Cubico is committed to supporting local businesses through procurement opportunities, ensuring economic benefits are shared with the local community.
Community benefits: Cubico is committed to working with neighbours, local residents, community groups and Councils to understand local priorities so we can make meaningful, long-term contributions to the community. We aim to develop a Community Benefit Program designed with input from local stakeholders to ensure financial benefits from the project are shared with the community.
Clean energy generation: The project could potentially generate enough clean energy to power over 600,000 homes, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 3.5 million tonnes, the equivalent of removing 2.32 million cars from the road.
The Curyo Wind Farm and Battery Project represents Cubico’s ongoing commitment to delivering renewable energy solutions that are sustainable, community-focused, and environmentally responsible. By partnering with local communities, Cubico aims to build a long-lasting positive impact in the region.
